The Great Omission: Captain Kirk's Absence
The graphic in question was a promotional image from Paramount that showcased Star Trek characters across generations. Shockingly for many fans, and for Shatner himself, Captain Kirk was conspicuously absent. In his tweet, Shatner highlighted that the team at Paramount seemed deliberately to exclude his iconic character from the celebration of the franchise’s history.
He described the image as “Paramount Graphics” with no sign of Kirk or other key characters he felt should be represented. Instead, the image included lesser-known characters and animated figures, but not Kirk. This omission felt to Shatner like a slap in the face to the character and the actor who brought him to life.
