In interviews, some of the cast members, such as Amanda Stenberg and Charlie Bennett, have discussed their characters and the series with a focus on representation. Notably, Stenberg is open about her identity as a queer person and expressed excitement about this aspect being embedded in the show. However, some critics and fans argue that this focus on identity overshadows, or even diminishes, adherence to traditional Star Wars lore.
