One intriguing aspect discussed is whether the creators ever considered portraying Creed as a more criminal or shady figure. Unlike other characters such as Dwight, who have clearly defined moral boundaries within the The Office’s reality, Creed existed in a no-man’s land. The writers note that Creed’s universe was somewhat malleable — “we didn’t have an established reality,” they say — allowing for creative freedom in how eccentric and possibly malevolent his character could appear.
