Tesla employs a "mixture of experts" neural network architecture. Multiple specialized "expert" modules handle different driving conditions or tasks (e.g., wet weather, urban intersections, highway driving). A routing system dynamically weighs these experts in real-time, blending their outputs according to environmental context.

Similarly, for Optimus, the experts might be skills like object manipulation, balance maintenance, or tool handling. This modular design allows Tesla’s AI to adapt swiftly, switching or combining skills based on the current scenario.

Philbert notes that this architecture is not unique to Tesla but represents a flexible and scalable approach to complex AI systems, capable of being extended to various robots or autonomous agents.
