Part 3/9:
Strategic Missteps and Financial Struggles
Porsche's struggled adaptation to the electric vehicle (EV) market has been at the core of its woes. Efforts to pivot towards electrification included postponements of new EV launches and substantial investments into internal combustion, hybrid, and gasoline models. Most damaging was the cancellation of plans to produce its own batteries—an initiative that had already seen billions of dollars invested.
Furthermore, Porsche's flagship model, the Macan, which traditionally commanded premium pricing, has seen sales decline, partly due to price hikes of 30-40% over its gasoline predecessor. This escalation in prices has inevitably kept some buyers at bay, further hurting sales.
