Despite the vast volume of data being generated—both internally and externally—many organizations struggle with trust and usability of this data. The "data paradox" is encapsulated in the reality that, although companies believe they possess extensive data assets, a significant percentage (about 32%) of this data is unreliable or non-trustworthy, hampering insights and decision-making.
Complexity compounds the issue. Legacy systems coexist with new digital initiatives, creating a tapestry of diverse data sources that increase the risk of inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Furthermore, the lack of visibility into data quality issues exacerbates the problem; unlike operational alerts (such as a website outage), data problems often go unnoticed until they significantly impact decisions.
