While the Jets offense sputtered, their defense was a bright spot, dominating the Broncos and even managing to secure a takeaway that set the tone early. Despite the defensive dominance, the questionable clock management at the end of the first half overshadowed some of their positive defensive plays.
The decision to let the clock run out with no attempt to at least heave a long pass into the end zone was controversial. Some questioned why the Jets didn't attempt a desperation pass or try to set up a field goal opportunity. The move was seen as a missed chance to capitalize on the momentum, and it drew criticism.
