He infamously queried, “How long have you been beating your wife?” Such inflammatory language has been deemed defamatory, as the context was not just confrontational but also aimed at character assassination without substantive evidence.
Kaine proceeded to challenge Hegseth about previous accusations of infidelity, referencing a time when Hegseth had fathered a child out of wedlock. This line of questioning was criticized for lacking the seriousness it deserved, as well as for its blatant hypocrisy, given Kaine’s alliances with individuals of questionable moral standing, notably Bill Clinton.
