Both teams, after this painful exercise in futility, showed just how far they are from contention and how badly they need to reassess their strategies going forward. It was a game devoid of the basic excitement that one hopes to experience with professional football.

While the Seahawks should be questioning their offensive capacity, the Bears may need to explore their future with Williams, who has been provided with little support on an offensive line that seems to continually disappoint. Surprise performances turned moot, and meaningful moments turned to farce.
