From the outset, it was apparent that the president was far from himself. Instead of a calm, composed leader addressing the nation in a moment of crisis, viewers saw a man visibly exhausted, disheveled, and erratic. He refused to utilize the teleprompter or prepared notes, opting instead to wing his delivery. This winging quickly revealed itself as a series of incoherent ramblings and tangential digressions. Throughout the speech, he veered off-script into conspiracy theories, attacking political opponents, media outlets, and even parts of his own government.
