Part 2/7:
As news of the award broke, jubilation erupted in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where the organization’s members have long worked to raise awareness and advocate for peace. Among the co-chairs from Nion Hango present to accept the award are Tanaka Terumi, Tanaka Shitu, and Mimaki Toshi. Terumi, a former resident of Nagasaki during the bombing, communicated his deep-seated concerns over the prevalence of nuclear weapons discussions in contemporary discourse, stating, “It is regrettable that nuclear weapons and the idea of using them come up so easily... We want to use our maximum power to tell young people that nuclear weapons must never be allowed to coexist with humanity.”
