Unlike the previous war, in which the Valar led the charge themselves, they sent powerful Maiar and a vast legion of Elves. Their most formidable warrior, Eönwë, led the charge against Melkor, who, in his arrogance, underestimated the threat posed by these forces.

The resulting battles were catastrophic. Despite Melkor’s efforts to retaliate with his last vestiges of power—summoning dragons and unleashing devastating storms—the combined armies of the Valar and Elves ultimately emerged victorious.

In a climactic confrontation, Melkor was once again captured and, this time, cast into the Void beyond the borders of the world, with a guard set to prevent his return. This effectively ended the First Age and signaled the peak of Melkor's fall from grace.
