Upon discovering the Elves, Melkor began to kidnap and corrupt them, resulting in the creation of Orcs, a perversion of the original Elves. The Vala Oromë soon encountered the innocent, unarmed elves and invited them to reside in Valinor, the Undying Lands. However, most Elves declined this offer, mistakenly believing Oromë was responsible for the disappearances caused by Melkor.

This prompted a coalition of the Valar, led by Manwë, to declare war against Melkor, whom they viewed as a dire threat. They forged mighty chains known as Híniro, and the ensuing battle saw the Valar triumph over Melkor’s forces, resulting in his capture.
