Supporters of Saruman argue fiercely that he possesses the capabilities to defeat the Balrog. A popular forum post with over 100,000 views asserts that Saruman, as the White Wizard, could do everything Gandalf the Grey could do but better. A key point in their argument is rooted in Gandalf's earlier defeat at Isengard, where Saruman imprisoned him. From this perspective, one could conclude that if Saruman defeated Gandalf and Gandalf, in turn, defeated the Balrog, Saruman would also prevail against the fiend.
