Despite their closeness, Boromir and Faramir fostered distinct paths. Boromir trained to be the finest warrior Gondor ever had, while Faramir pursued knowledge and wisdom, often learning under the guidance of Gandalf. Their differing paths fostered no rivalry but illustrated the differing traits valued by their father, Denethor. Boromir's focus on martial glory garnered their father's favor, whereas Faramir's intellect and caution were often overlooked.
