Part 2/7:

SAF represents a shift from traditional non-profit sports clubs to profit-driven football enterprises. This movement was accelerated by the enactment of Law 14.193 in 2021, which provided a legal framework for clubs to operate as corporate entities rather than as traditional associations. The key change is the differentiation of how these entities can manage their finances, liabilities, and taxation.

Historically, Brazil has experienced the emergence of several club-turned-companies, with varying levels of success since the 1990s. However, it wasn't until the introduction of SAF that a standardized approach began to take shape. According to recent data, there are currently 63 SAFs in Brazilian football, with projections indicating that this number could rise to 70 soon.
