The following day finds Philip in a pool suited for a cleanup that ends in further despair when an encounter with Melissa leads to painful realizations regarding their relationship. Philip’s desperation grows, leading him to plot against Todd, whom he views as the source of his woes. Embarking on a car ride with Todd under false pretenses, he leads the oblivious friend into the depths of the desert. However, Philip falters in his plan to abandon Todd, ultimately feeling guilt.
