As Nathan adapts to his new life in the virtual afterlife, he forms friendships with various characters, including a billionaire businessman named David and a supportive individual named Nora. However, despite the camaraderie he finds on the golf course with David, Nathan often wrestles with feelings of worthlessness. He confides in Nora about his desire to create meaningful change, especially after he gains insight into the miserable conditions faced by lower-tier uploaders—individuals who live in stark, white rooms and whose subscription status determines their existence.
