A flashback takes us five years prior to Ezekiel’s first term as chief. At this time, he is accompanied by his wife, Julia, who is deeply involved in the process as an agent. During an interview round, Julia harshly eliminates a contestant simply because she has a child in the slums, revealing her growing ruthlessness and hints at a change in her character.
As time passes, Julia is positioned as Ezekiel’s personal assistant, but their marriage begins to fray. A mishap during a mission results in the death of an innocent man, a traumatic experience for Julia, especially as she sees a child left behind in the chaos. Struggling with guilt and grief, Julia becomes increasingly unhinged.
