With the odds stacked against them, Kaye formulates a final plan: using gasoline to create a protective barrier. She successfully ignites the sand, forcing the creature back and providing a brief respite for the trio. Unfortunately, Jonah succumbs to his injuries, leaving Kaylee and Chanda to fend for themselves in the aftermath of chaos.
As dawn breaks, a surfer approaches the scene and awakens the girls, leading them to discover they can finally step on the sand without the fear of becoming intertwined with the monster. They exit the car, leaving Jonah's lifeless body behind, stepping away from the sun-kissed hell that altered their lives forever.
