Part 2/9:

The adventure begins when young Lewis, embarking on a trip from Colorado to California, decides to invite his childhood friend and crush, Venna, to join him. With emotions running high as she has just exited a previous relationship, he feels a wave of optimism about their future. Unfortunately, his plans alter when he is forced to bail out his older brother, Fuller, from jail due to a drunken driving incident.

Their reunion, although nostalgic, is overshadowed by Fuller's annoying mannerisms that irritate Lewis, particularly when he brings up Venna. Undeterred, Fuller convinces Lewis to install a radio communicator in their car, leading to the ill-fated prank call that sets the film’s horrific events in motion.
