Simultaneously, another mutant named Angel fights in an underground club. His battles are interrupted when Moira MacTaggert, a CIA agent investigating a mysterious cult in Egypt, accidentally awakens Apocalypse by uncovering an ancient artifact in a hidden cave. This catastrophic event sends shockwaves felt even by Magneto, who is living in anonymity at a metal factory in Poland.
Magneto faces personal tragedy as Soviet soldiers tragically kill his family, awakening his powers and deepening his thirst for vengeance. Meanwhile, Xavier senses an impending global catastrophe and attempts to unite the X-Men to confront this new threat poised by Apocalypse and his plans for world domination.
