On the opposing planet, Veldin, we find Ratchet working diligently in his workshop. When a news report flashes on his television, announcing the tragic destruction of Nimus, he becomes inspired by the call for new Galactic Rangers—heroes tasked with maintaining order in space. Despite his dreams, Ratchet initially struggles to prove himself and is quickly dismissed by Captain Quark, the renowned leader of the Rangers, after an embarrassing admission of his less-than-heroic background.
