Fast forward years later, we are introduced to Spencer Gilpin, a nerdy teen and avid video game addict, who attempts to reconnect with his old friend, Anthony Johnson. Their friendship seems strained, as Anthony is more invested in his newfound popularity as a jock. At school, Spencer crosses paths with Beth Walker, a popular girl overwhelmed by social media pressures, and Martha, a girl who despises sports and strives for academic excellence. Their paths converge when all four of them find themselves in trouble with the school's principal.
