As the story progresses to its resolution, the narrative suggests that though they have evaded Lasky for now, the specter of racism remains omnipresent. Dorian grows into fatherhood with Nina by his side, capturing joyful moments but also grappling with the scars left by their past. The camcorder, once a tool of survival, becomes a symbol of Nina's dependence on manipulation rather than facing reality. When her granddaughter accidentally breaks it, a mixture of emotions floods Nina’s heart.
