Determined to find answers, Ethan tears out his IV, dons his clothes, and manages to escape the confines of the hospital. Once outside, however, he discovers numerous oddities, such as the unnerving realization that the sounds of crickets echo throughout the town from hidden speakers—an early sign that Wayward Pines is anything but normal.

Heralded as an escape from the madness, a bar seems to offer solace, only for Ethan to realize that even there, bizarre circumstances loom. After a swift call to his wife ends in voicemail, and an unsettling chat with seemingly oblivious locals, his frustrations lead him back to darker discoveries that hint at truths far more sinister.
