The story introduces Dr. Rogette, the head of the facility, who is under pressure from the hospital's director to deliver significant advancements in his research on coma patients. His obsession with his experiments creates a disquieting environment. Kathy, a new nurse hired at the hospital, meets different characters, including the head nurse, Cassidy, who is later revealed to be Rogette’s daughter, and Paula, another nurse who provides Kathy with a sense of the hospital's unnerving history, like the mysterious disappearance of the nurse before Kathy.
