As David integrates himself into Nicole's life, he further manipulates situations to keep her isolated from her family and friends, even going so far as to tamper with the clocks to alter perceptions of time. The tension rises when Steve discovers strange behavior from David, leading him on a quest for the truth about David's past. What emerges is a troubling backstory—David has been in and out of foster care, devoid of stability or family, making him a dangerous presence.
