Part 2/8:

Joe's inadvertent foray into the world of loss takes a darker turn when he encounters factory worker Louie Danard, only for his father, Deputy Sheriff Jackson Lamb, to confront and arrest Danard. As summer rolls around, Joe's best friend Charles, the budding director of their film, reveals he has invited Alice, Louie’s daughter and Joe’s secret crush, to take on the lead role. The excitement is palpable as the group prepares to film their recent zombie scene, but the creative process is interrupted by the arrival of summer and eviction from their safe space—Joe's father believes Joe's filmmaking is simply a foolish pursuit.
