Part 1/9:
The Disturbing Reality of a Eugenics Society: A Summary of Gattaca
In a dystopian future where eugenics govern the societal structure, the world is starkly divided between those who are genetically engineered in laboratories, termed as "valids," and those conceived naturally, labeled "in-valids." This genetic discrimination pervades every aspect of life, despite it being technically illegal. Employers often resort to underhanded methods, such as using urine tests, to profile potential hires based on their genetic makeup. The societal stigma associated with being an in-valid relegates them to menial, low-paying jobs while the valids bask in the privilege of better opportunities.
