The couple commenced their monastery exploration at the Great Meteoron, the oldest and largest of the six monasteries. Founded in the mid-14th century by Saint Athanasius, this monastery showcases stunning courtyards, museums, and the main church, replete with historically significant frescoes and artifacts. Visitors are not allowed to take photos inside, preserving the sanctity of these holy sites.
Following their visit to the Great Meteoron, the couple hiked to the Varlaam Monastery, the second-largest monastery, where they again encountered a dress code requirement, needing to purchase skirts for entry.
