The region boasts an astounding annual catch of about 40 million kilos of cod, demonstrating the importance of this industry not only locally but internationally, with much of it being exported to countries like Italy.
The traditional buildings adorned in vibrant colors represent a piece of history—a reflection of societal status, where the color of a home indicated wealth. White houses were the most expensive to paint, followed by yellow and the more affordable red, often derived from mixtures of fish oil.
