Evil (2019) - TV series review - Best Horror/Psychological series

in Movies & TV Shows4 years ago

It’s been long since I haven't enjoyed a Good tv show or to be specific a Good horror Tv series. Most of the horror movies/tv shows which i had watched were either too cliche or filled with cheap jumpscares with very poor character development

But this show, EVILE(2019) went beyond my expectations and was a good watch

Storyline : A psychologist joins the team of a priest in training and a tech guy. Investigating supernatural occurrences such as demonic possessions, Miracles etc to check whether its a science phenomena or any supernatural at work.

But what makes EVIL(2019) TV show a good watch?
  • A perfect blend of psychological and horror elements into it. If you're a fan of The Original Exorcism movie you will definitely be fond of this.
  • Great characters and gradual improvement in the characters that will make you care for them. Each role has an interesting background story with a twist in it. That will make your interest get vested in them
  • A Thoughtful drama that dwells in the between faith and logical reasoning.
  • Thought provoking at its best, at the end of each you would still keep thinking whether there is really some supernatural at work. There is good logical reasoning and debunking going on in this show but still leaves a space for the supernatural things and that’s what makes it a good horror binge show.
  • Even if you don't love horror shows, you will love the psychological part of this show.
And their explanation part for each event. Which you will get a hint in the first episode itself.
  • It’s a mature show that doesn’t need Zombies or gore to make it feel horror. Maybe it's just humans who want to do evil things for no reason.
  • Story is well written and has a well balanced of creepiness and intelligence
  • It is similar to like X-files, Exorcist ( 2016 ) true crime, Exorcism of emily rose. If you have enjoyed of these, then this Tv series will be on

One of the good points of the series is the memorable Characters, with their uniqueness with each one has, fortunately No character is under developed or ignored but done justice to their role. Specially the Villian guy, who looks mild polite and can be cunning at the same time. Such good was his acting.

Along with the psychology part debunking the supernatural, this show equally maintains the mysteryness part. Which makes it a more interesting and enjoyable watch. It maintains a perfect balance of logic and faith. While watching some of you may relate to their characters thinking and action.

The acting from the main leads, Kristen, was really good. She was a convincing mother and a psychologist. Whereas Mike Colster played as priest in training, David acusta, who gives us an interesting person dealing with his relationship with God and beliefs. And the best person to add humor is third person Ben, tech guy, an adherent non believer and adds humor to the show.

It has a total 13 episodes, with each episode having unique cases/events finally interlinking with each other at the end.
The story is well written, within a time frame of 45 minutes of each episode it will keep you hooked throughout the series. Without making you lose interest in between.

If you’re still reading this review, then you are definitely in look for a good show and this is the one. Do watch it, for a great story and acting

As usual good TV shows get cancelled, but to my surprise it’s renewed for season 2. Which i will be eagerly waiting for.

Do watch it and follow me for more Good dark /psycho movies recommendations.
