Enemy (2013)
Based on The Double, José Saramago's novel, the film directed by Denis Villeneuve, one of the best directors I must say, creates a dark atmosphere to narrate the story of Adam Bell, a history teacher who discovers that an actor, Anthony Saint Claire, is exactly like him. Fascinated by his discovery Adam tries to search for his doppelgänger, but things are not what he expects. What would you do if you discover someone physically similar to you?
Why watch this movie? If the good direction of Denis Villeneuve, the excellent performance of Jake Gyllenhaal, Mélanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini and a story based on a novel by José Saramago are not enough for you, then let me tell you that Enemy is not a normal film, It's the kind of film that will not leave you indifferent, especially for its surprising ending. What ending? A masterpiece or just a pretentious film? You will have to find out for yourself.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Stanley Kubrick's last film, which was released even after his death. Based on Traumnovelle, the novel by Arthur Schnitzler, the film shows the story of William Harford, a doctor who, surprised by his wife's confession, decides to venture into the night streets of New York and captivated by the invitation of a former partner, he gets involved in a sinisterly mysterious situation.
The first time I saw this film I did not understand its message exactly, but I found Kubrick's direction fascinating, so after a few years I decided to see it again, this time with my eyes wide open, and again I was fascinated by a wonderful narration visual. A haunting soundtrack, excellent photography, and two good performances by Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It is not a film for everyone, but if you are a movie lover, seeing all the films of Kubrick's filmography is a must.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
If you are looking for a lot of entertainment Edge of Tomorrow is the movie you need. As in the previous movie, this one also stars Tom Cruise, but it's a movie with a completely different profile.
In Edge of Tomorrow we find a highly immersive plot that keeps the viewer interested in what happens in each scene, it is a movie of the action-science fiction genre based on the novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
The film tells the story of William Cage, who is caught in a time loop when is sent to fight aliens who are destroying planet earth and the human race.
Time Loops, Aliens, lots of action and Emily Blunt, in a film directed by Doug Liman, who also directed The Bourne Identity. Do you really need more?
