A Beautiful Mind (2001)
This film tells the personal story of John Forbes Nash, played by Russell Crowe, an extremely brilliant student who was pursuing graduate studies at Princeton in 1947. John is lonely and strange, only understood by his friend and roommate, however, John creates a revolutionary theory that makes him get a teaching position at MIT, where he meets Alicia Lardé, Jennifer Connelly, one of his students, with whom he falls in love. However, John is secretly recruited by the Department of Defense to fight the Soviet Union.
I recommend this movie because I think it can make any viewer think a bit about it. It is a story that talks about many things and that the eyes and thoughts of each person can interpret in their own way.
A Most Violent Year (2014)
The story of the film takes place in the early 1980s in New York. Crime statistics are the highest reported to date. In this hostile environment, a hispanic immigrant, Abel Morales and his wife Anna, played by Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain respectively, try to expand their gasoline distribution and sales business.
I recommend this film because I think it shows the difficulties of growing a business amidst all possible hostilities, and of dealing with the temptation to take "the easy way".
Across the Universe (2007)
Across the Universe is a romantic musical set in the 60's. Despite having a simple storyline, basically the classic romantic story of all time, this movie is full of The Beatles songs, something pretty cool if you ask me, and that's the reason why I recommend it.
