This is actually one of the movies I watched during my lull last year.
And this is a post I started writing on Christmas Day.

Now I know what most of y'all are thinking...

How the hell does this relate with Christmas?

Well it doesn't. ¯⁠\⁠⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠⁠/⁠¯

But last year in March, I did write a review on the coin which was inspired by events in the later parts of the movie.
At that time I had no idea that there was a movie about the governor who allowed the kidnappers to use their country's airport as a hostage market exchange.
So imagine my surprise when the scene came up and I was like.... This is familiar.

The Last King Of Scotland

Plot

Dr Nicholas Garrigan just finished his medical school at Scotland and is ready to go out into the world and choose where he'd work.
Looking for a new place, exotic and with a change of scenery, he spins his globe and chooses on a whim the country in the middle of Africa, Uganda.
Little did he know that he joined the country in a time of great military and political change, and that he'd be the personal doctor to the man who was in the forefront of that change. General Idi Amin.

This as usual was one of my many shows gotten from an Instagram reel. I once had a list but now with my busier schedule I just watch them on random and sometimes while scrolling through the gram I see others that end up jumping everything else😂

This show is one of those who jumped everything. As always I'm a sucker for great acting, and when I come across a scene where the actors passion in the scene moves me so, immediately I take the name and sometimes watch it that same day.
Forest Whitaker's acting in this scene was the one that caught me.

I think it's to note that this movie isn't based on a true story although it is based on real events.
Still that doesn't stop us from making our own assumptions and I choose to assume that the story is real.

As always with my movie reviews I'd talk about the acting.
It's one so beautiful that almost everyone would commend it, so much so that Forest Whittaker even won an Oscar for it back then.
Apart from Whittaker the movie did have a number of other actors that carried their roles well.

The first is Nicholas Garrigan himself. He gives off that vibe of the rich doctor who is just looking for adventure blindly. Optimistic and foolish, yet still charming—especially to the ladies.

He played his role well and he portrayed the emotions to the screens effortlessly.
From Joy, hope and sheer happiness, to confusion, disgust, fear and sheer rage. Everything was brought to the screen and everything was laid bare.

This is one other character that most wouldn't have believed I would mention but this man Masongo...

A tyrant always needs an executioner and Masango was the perfect fit.
Undying loyalty and shear evil. His actions shooked me, carrying Idi Amins orders before he's even sure about them. He embodied the role.

There's really nothing more to say about the movie and truly nothing for me to spoil (unless you know totally nothing about the Uganda political history 😉)

If you're among this small percentage of people. That don't know about it, this movie is for you😗✨

It is PG rated though, quite some blood and other spicy scenes shown. Regardless it is a dope movie that I urge everyone to check. A full 10 out of 10!

Esta es, de hecho, una de las películas que vi durante mi descanso del año pasado.
Y esta es una publicación que empecé a escribir el día de Navidad.

Ahora sé lo que la mayoría está pensando...

¿Qué tiene que ver esto con la Navidad?

Pues no. ¯⁠\⁠⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠⁠/⁠¯

Pero el año pasado, en marzo, escribí una reseña sobre la moneda inspirada en los sucesos de las últimas partes de la película.
En ese momento no tenía ni idea de que existía una película sobre el gobernador que permitió a los secuestradores usar el aeropuerto de su país como mercado de rehenes.
Así que imagínense mi sorpresa cuando apareció la escena y pensé... Esto me suena.

El Último Rey de Escocia

Sinopsis

El Dr. Nicholas Garrigan acaba de terminar sus estudios de medicina en Escocia y está listo para salir al mundo y elegir dónde trabajar.
En busca de un lugar nuevo, exótico y con un cambio de aires, da vueltas en su mundo y elige, por capricho, Uganda, un país en medio de África.
No sabía que se unió al país en una época de grandes cambios militares y políticos, y que sería el médico personal del hombre que lideró ese cambio: el general Idi Amin.

Como siempre, este fue uno de mis muchos programas sacados de un reel de Instagram. Antes tenía una lista, pero ahora, con mi agenda más apretada, solo las veo al azar y, a veces, mientras reviso Instagram, veo otras que terminan saltándose todo lo demás.

Esta serie es una de esas que se saltan todo. Como siempre, me fascinan las buenas interpretaciones, y cuando me encuentro con una escena donde la pasión del actor me conmueve tanto, inmediatamente la tomo y a veces la veo ese mismo día.
La actuación de Forest Whitaker en esta escena fue la que me cautivó.

Cabe destacar que esta película no está basada en una historia real, aunque sí en hechos reales.
Aun así, eso no nos impide hacer nuestras propias suposiciones y elijo asumir que la historia es real.

Como siempre en mis reseñas de películas, hablaría de las actuaciones.
Es tan hermosa que casi todo el mundo la elogiaría, tanto que Forest Whittaker incluso ganó un Óscar por ella en su momento.
Además de Whittaker, la película contó con varios otros actores que interpretaron sus papeles con gran maestría.

El primero es el propio Nicholas Garrigan. Emite esa vibra del médico rico que solo busca aventuras a ciegas. Optimista y alocado, pero aun así encantador, sobre todo con las damas.

Interpretó su papel con maestría y transmitió las emociones a la pantalla con naturalidad.
Desde la alegría, la esperanza y la felicidad pura, hasta la confusión, el asco, el miedo y la rabia pura. Todo se llevó a la pantalla y quedó al descubierto.

Este es otro personaje que la mayoría no habría creído que mencionaría, pero este hombre, Masongo...

Un tirano siempre necesita un verdugo, y Masango era el candidato perfecto. Lealtad inquebrantable y maldad absoluta. Sus acciones me impactaron, cumpliendo las órdenes de Idi Amin incluso antes de estar seguro de ellas. Encarnó el papel.

Realmente no hay nada más que decir sobre la película y, de verdad, nada que pueda spoilear (a menos que no sepas nada sobre la historia política de Uganda 😉).

Si eres de ese pequeño grupo de personas que no la conocen, esta película es para ti 😗✨

Sin embargo, tiene clasificación PG (Apta para todos los públicos), con bastante sangre y otras escenas picantes. De todas formas, es una película buenísima que recomiendo a todos ver. ¡Un 10 sobre 10!
