En 2017 se estreno "Justice League", una secuela directa de "Batman v Superman" y la quinta cinta del universo cinematográfico extendido de D.C. (Detective Comics). Después de muchos problemas durante su rodaje por conflictos creativos entre el estudio y el director, terminaron por cambiarlo en post producción rehaciendo una buena parte de la película.

Así fue como se convirtió en un fracaso comercial, recibiendo criticas mixtas y siendo despreciada por los fans. Sin embargo, poco tiempo después, Zack Snyder (El primer director del largometraje) revelo tener su propio corte, afirmando que era muy diferente y desde su perspectiva personal, mucho mejor que el estrenado. A partir de ese momento, comenzó a través de internet, una odisea de los fans para convencer a Warner Bros. Entertainment de sacar a la luz esta versión.

Después de 4 años y una incesante insistencia de los adeptos que le tenían fe al corte de Snyder, se entrega el 18 de marzo de 2021 por medio del servicio de streaming HBO MAX "Justice League: Snyder Cut" una versión en formato digital, de mas de cuatro horas.

Ahora las preguntas a contestar son: ¿Ha valido la pena esperar por el Snyder Cut? ¿Es mejor o peor que la versión original? ¿El estudio tenia razón en reformar el largometraje?

Para empezar es necesario decir que contra todo pronostico y cualquier escepticismo, este corte mejora en casi todo sentido al original, deja ver las malas decisiones tomadas por el estudio al masacrar el estilo, desechar planteamientos de universo y asesinar una identidad que se había forjado en una primera instancia. Se convierte en un relato que funciona con todas sus partes, cambiando radicalmente el feeling y construyendo una historia solida muy disfrutable.

To begin with, it is necessary to say that against all expectations and any skepticism, this cut improves in almost every way the original, reveals the bad decisions made by the studio when massacring the style, discarding universe approaches and assassinating an identity that had been forged in a first instance. It becomes a story that works with all its parts, radically changing the feeling and building a very enjoyable solid story.

Desde el minuto uno, con su secuencia de títulos, ya empieza a contarnos algo importante. Abre con lo imprescindible, el establecimiento de los pilares elementales para la trama, dejándonos muy en claro (Sin ser condescendiente ni sobre explicar) los objetivos tanto de héroes como de villanos. Gracias a la muerte de Superman las cajas madre han despertado, volviéndose estas el elemento detonador de la trama y llamando al peligro de una invasión a la tierra.

From minute one, with his sequence of titles, he already begins to tell us something important. It opens with the essentials, the establishment of the elemental pillars for the plot, leaving us very clear (without being condescending or over explaining) the objectives of both heroes and villains. Comenzando el primer acto, nos topamos instantáneamente con una muy diferente propuesta de dirección. Bruce Wayne ya esta juntando a la liga para confrontar la inminente amenaza y lo acompaña una sutil expresividad enfocada en ir poco a poco contándonos mas de lo que sucede. Hay un mejor trabajo de color acorde al estilo con matices que se integran entre si, y el humor se reduce bastante, habiendo uno que otro chiste, pero sin romper la tensión del tono general.

Los Personajes

A diferencia del primer corte, el Snyder Cut lleva una construcción mucho mas clara y consciente. Las tramas de sus personajes (Sobre todo en el segundo acto) constituyen verdaderos e interesantes arcos dramáticos que te llevan a una conclusión y resuelven los conflictos propuestos de manera satisfactoria.

Se puede tomar como primer ejemplo a Louis Lane (Probablemente la mejor trama secundaria de personaje), quien es introducida con una secuencia que no solo es atractiva visualmente, es un planteamiento importante que define sus dinámicas y la va a poner mas adelante en el sitio preciso para hacer reaccionar a Superman.

Characters

Unlike the first cut, the Snyder Cut has a much clearer and more conscious construction. The plots of its characters (especially in the second act) constitute real and interesting dramatic arcs that lead you to a conclusion and resolve the proposed conflicts in a satisfactory way.

Louis Lane (Probably the best character subplot) can be taken as the first example, who is introduced with a sequence that is not only visually attractive, it is an important approach that defines its dynamics and will put it later on the site. precise to make Superman react.

Los Villanos

Steppenwolf es el villano principal al igual que en el primer corte, pero esta vez presenta diferencias importantes en sus motivaciones y conflictos. Siendo la inclusión de Darkside como su jefe, la que se catapulta como un impulso para darle sentido al villano principal, dotándolo (Aunque indirectamente) de una profundidad que lo convierte en un enemigo mucho mas respetable y amenazante. El quiere regresar del exilio al lado de Darkside, dándonos algo mucho mas interesante que solo querer destruir el mundo porque sí.

Villains

Steppenwolf is the main villain as in the first cut, but this time he presents important differences in his motivations and conflicts. Being the inclusion of Darkside as his boss, the one that catapults as an impulse to make sense of the main villain, endowing him (although indirectly) with a depth that makes him a much more respectable and threatening enemy. He wants to return from exile to Darkside's side, giving us something much more interesting than just wanting to destroy the world for its own sake.

El Climax

El clímax final de entrada es una batalla despampanante, emocionante y visualmente impactante. La saben extender en puntos de inflexión con una intensidad rítmica arrolladora, rematando todas las propuestas de estructura visual y espacial al final. Nos permite ver a la liga desenvolviéndose como un equipo funcional en contra de Steppenwolf y logrando pagar muchos de los sembrados de personajes y sembrados argumentales, como por ejemplo la dinámica entre el villano y Wonder Woman.

Lo mejor es cuando alargan el clímax todavía mas con un extremo giro negativo, aparentemente irreversible, que hace que realmente los héroes pierdan. Este giro representa la carga dramática mas importante y fuerte de la película, y su solución, con flash corriendo mas rápido que la luz y rompiendo el tiempo es impresionante.

Esta ultima resolución es muy buena porque representa el cierre de arco de dos personajes: Flash con su oportunidad de al fin ser un héroe y hacer sentir orgulloso a su padre, y Cyborg, que durante casi toda la cinta se siente como un rechazado de la naturaleza, ahora su arco lo ha llevado a saber que no esta roto y que es parte de algo mucho mas grande, salvando a la tierra al destruir a las cajas madre.

The climax

The final entry climax is a stunning, exciting and visually stunning battle. They know how to extend it into inflection points with overwhelming rhythmic intensity, finishing off all the proposals for visual and spatial structure at the end. It allows us to see the league unfolding as a functional team against Steppenwolf and managing to pay off many of the character seeds and plot seeds, such as the dynamic between the villain and Wonder Woman.

The best is when they lengthen the climax even more with an extreme negative twist, seemingly irreversible, that really makes the heroes lose. This twist represents the most important and strongest dramatic charge in the film, and its solution, with flash running faster than light and breaking time, is impressive.

This last resolution is very good because it represents the closing of the arc of two characters: Flash with his opportunity to finally be a hero and make his father proud, and Cyborg, who for most of the film feels like a rejected from the nature, now his bow has led him to know that it is not broken and that it is part of something much bigger, saving the earth by destroying the mother boxes.

Lo Malo

El primer corte estaba demasiado acelerado y esta, por momentos, se detiene demasiado. Si bien hay un buen ritmo secuencial en algunas partes, no es así en el ritmo general, y esto puede deberse a dos puntos:

• Primero, es una película que de cierta manera ya vimos. Así que es natural que se torne muchas veces repetitiva
• Y segundo, dura cuatro horas... Cuatro largas horas en las que de verdad se siente muchas veces que es sobre expositiva y justifica en sobre manera a los personajes.

Hay bastantes momentos en el primer y segundo acto que solo muestran una sobre estilización en cámara lenta y no aportan nada a la narración, te encuentras preguntándote en varias escenas ¿Por qué estoy viendo esto?.

La película tiene mucha tela que cortar, tanto, que fácilmente se le podría quitar una hora de metraje sin perder gran sustancia. Peca de lenta y hace pensar que meter demasiado contenido no fue la mejor decisión, cuando cortar (Normalmente) suma mas a una corrección que agregar.

The bad

The first cut was too accelerated and this one, at times, stops too much. While there is a good sequential rhythm in some parts, it is not so in the general rhythm, and this may be due to two points:

First, it is a movie that we have already seen in a way. So it is natural that it becomes repetitive many times
And second, it lasts four hours ... Four long hours in which you really feel many times that it is over-expository and justifies the characters in a way.
There are quite a few moments in the first and second act that only show an over-stylization in slow motion and add nothing to the narrative, you find yourself wondering in various scenes why am I watching this?

The film has a lot of fabric to cut, so much so that an hour of footage could easily be taken away without losing much substance. It is slow and suggests that putting too much content was not the best decision, when cutting (Normally) adds more to a correction than adding.
