THE IMITATION GAME - Overratted?? True Events???

in Movies & TV Shows4 years ago

Hello movie lovers, I hope everyone is doing good. Today I am going to write about the movie "The Imitation Game". It's a wonderful movie imitating the old times of World War II, but there are some huge drawbacks and it will not be wrong to say it is overrated. If you have already seen then do share your thoughts and otherwise go and watch the movie today.!!

Here I am not going to tell the storyline because you should watch the movie yourself, if you do not it is your loss. But still will be giving a silhouette.

The Oscar nominated movie is based on Alan Turing's noble heroics in The World War II. At that time he worked for British Intelligence Services and had a pivotal role in the victory of Britishers by decoding the Nazi Germany's Enigma Code.

Drawbacks

What was heartbreaking is that, the movie makers distorted the historical events just to create more spotlight to the central hero.

There is not even a mention of the Polish Intelligence Bureau, who has initially already developed a machine for the same purpose. Though it was not a success but it worked as a fundamental base for Bombe machines.

In the movie Alan is shown as if he is very aloof from everyone and has some social problems but truth is is he was very much co-operative with his team and was comfortable in any social situation. Yeah, he had his eccentricities but in the movie it was way much exaggerated.

The machine was named "Christopher" in the movie after his childhood friend who died due to illness. But this is literally distorting historical events because the real name of the machine was "Bombe Machines" which was partly inspired by Polish cryptanalyst's "Bomba kryptologiczna".

Joan Clarke who is shown recruited by Alan is also an wrong addition to the distortion of events, as she was recruited by her former academic supervisor, Gordon Welchman.

A scene where is is shown a team member's brother was present on the convoy which was attacked was also an extra addition.

Clearly stating that he committed suicide, when still this part is debated. Rumors also have it that the death was an accident, caused by cyanide fumes, produced in an experiment followed by a poorly done investigation. The chemical castration which he was going through was finished 14 months before his death, but in the movie they it's implied he killed himself because of that only.!!

Lets end this blog with an inspirational dialogue from the movie :

"Sometimes, it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one imagines"
