I felt like this movie was just OK. I think the Brahm Stoker's Dracula in the 90's was better but well, Gary Oldman is tough to top. I think it was kind of neat to have a much older and ancient-language speaking person playing Nosferatu / Dracula, but essentially if you have seen the one from the 90's, then you have already seen this one. I did appreciate that the director didn't want to use CGI and almost all of the film features practical effects.
I agree with you about the length. It was too long and about 30% of it could have been cut out without any loss to the story.
Well yes that 90's movie starring Gary Oldman set the bar high, although we will not deny that Eggers gave a different approach to this movie as more pure horror but if it could have been more compact, sometimes less is more and this one definitely needed a trim.
