Hello! As part of our ongoing efforts to improve both interaction and curation in the Movies and TV Shows Community, this post is one of many to highlight and boost members of the past week that have posted what we believe is exceptional content.

The Details

Each week, our Moderators will monitor the posts within the Movies and TV Shows Community and handpick the ones that are believed to stand out under numerous factors: post quality, length, and subject.

There are no entry requirements, and this is not a contest, but simply a roundup intended to provide additional exposure to all of you for your efforts. Just have fun posting in the Movies & TV Shows Community and five or more posts will be chosen frequently.

What do La La Land, Babylon and Whiplash have in common?

It is not only about the powerful musical presence of Justin Hurwitz (who works on the three aforementioned projects), or the way in which he constantly uses color and cinematography to convey the feelings of his characters, but because of those thematic elements that abound in each film, and those that tell us about the love of art and the search for perfection. Although La La Land is a romantic musical on the surface, like Whiplash it ends up addressing the true price of success, and how, even if our sacrifices pay off, we will always have left something of value behind.

Assassination Classroom | You'll end up crying

I didn't expect much from this anime, I mean, a class of students trying to kill a creature that not even all the countries in the world could kill together, there is no chance of them succeeding, so they would just be wasting their time, then they hit us in the face with Korosensei's hilarious personality and we fall in love with everything that happens, because he becomes that parental figure that everyone would like to have, or that we should get to have, because he is in charge of satisfying each of the needs of his students so that they can get to have a full development and can face the world at all costs without fearing the things that can happen to them, and that was simply too beautiful not to stay watching the anime completely.

Review Serie: A Family of Police (Bluee Boods)

A series that covers much to think and reflect, entertaining, eloquent, showing us as I mentioned, the sense of duty, honour, loyalty, family unity are our pillars, in which each character contributes something, with their work, their way of facing the different eventualities of everyday life, either from the street, behind a desk or court, but always looking for ways to enforce the law.

Athena | Movie Review

While it is not a film that I can say I enjoyed, it has both things to criticize and things to really acknowledge; This film, watching it with a critical eye, constantly took me out of the experience, with script errors that I understand are used to give drama to a scene, but are not justified in any logical way, for example people who disappear from one shot to another to leave only our character, fuel that under a rain of explosions and fireworks does not ignite, but can easily ignite our protagonist, or people who before huge amounts of gas, can run, sing, and not sweat or suffer any redness on their faces.

Hijack - Apple TV+ did it again!

This is a series that did not need big things or locations to convey what they intended, that the viewer was hooked in such a way that for moments he/she felt like a passenger on that plane. The plot takes place in an airplane and a couple of offices, one or two outside, but nothing big, it is not ostentatious in that sense, I think it was not necessary either. The scenes inside the plane can be a bit claustrophobic, now I understand a little the fear of some people to fly, I don't mean it in a bad way but in a way that helps to make everything more distressing and intense; how is it possible that in such a small space 5 people can have control over 200? - This is where the impotence comes in.

Review | My favorite classic comedy movie | 16 Wishes (2010)

As we watch the film, we enjoy the fact that the candles that were given to Abby correspond to her 16 years, so together we will go through and be happy with this teenager. At first everything was going great, until the birthday girl takes one of her wishes and changes the whole picture, becoming an adult in the blink of an eye, this altered the time, and caused Abby to miss all the most special moments of her life; her graduation, she loses her friendship with her best friend, her parents place her own home, nothing went as she expected and it is here where the whole plot generates great weight of reflection.

Paranorman, Review

The first thing I have to say is that it is a very funny movie, it has jokes that although they are not something out of this world, are very well placed in the dialogues, it also contains black humor that can be somewhat shocking for some people, even some parents criticized the film for this feature but Paranorman is not for children but for teenagers and adults.

Review || Mark Cavendish: Imparable

An athlete with mental disorders cannot be in good performance, the mentality of an athlete has to be at 100% and clearly Mark Cavendish was not. It's hard because his own team considered dropping him, because he was no longer winning and was lagging far behind on the tracks. He was living off the fame he had earned in the past, but in the present it wasn't working at all and was hurting the team considerably.

See you Space Cowboy... Cowboy Bebop (1998)

As the series progresses you might think that the order in which you choose to watch the chapters doesn't matter, as they only show the group involved in different crises that have a resolution at the end of them, with conclusive stories. However, we are soon shown that the animation goes beyond a group of antiheroes with a peculiar way of making money, but we are also shown the hard pasts of the protagonists through flashbacks that in my opinion give much richness to the characters, allows us to understand them better and are developed in such a timely manner to have only 26 chapters to develop the plot.

Flamin’ Hot (2023) - Review: “Una Historia interesante con mucho más potencial para explotar”

First I always like to start talking about what I love the most about the movie and in this case it is without a doubt the story, regardless of how much is true and how much is exaggerated, I find it very interesting and I had never wondered about it but since I saw what this movie was about I was curious about everything related to Flamin' Hot, so I admit that I liked it. It also highlighted that they have taken the decision to tell the film with a more humorous tone, it gives some originality and you have several funny moments that if I got a smile, besides as the film is shown from the vision of our protagonist often play with this making it clear that some situations are exaggerated.

Are you afraid of heights? - Review: Fall | Reseña: Vértigo | 2022

To make you understand a little better my opinion about this movie I must tell you that I personally am very afraid of heights, so almost all the movie was a complete torture because of the scenes and situations that are presented, but I consider that this is the strong point of the film, which really transmits the tension of the moment making us feel so uncomfortable but at the same time we can not look away from the film because it is really very striking to know what will happen next, so as for the story, it really seems to me very good, although as I mentioned at the beginning, many similar stories have already been seen, but I would say that none (at least of those that I have been able to see) transmits so much tension every minute that advances and even for me that it was difficult to see, it really caught me and I liked it a lot, because I genuinely suffered the situations with the characters.
