A City In Love: "Lovestruck In The City" Series Review

"I started the first episode and couldn't get past the interview scene, it was boring".
A friend told me this and I became skeptical to see the series after I had already downloaded it into my phone. There are only a few series I've deleted after an unsatisfying review from people who have seen them and this is because I feel we all have different reasons we see movies.

Even with the somewhat review I got from two persons about this series, I still decided to see it and hope to find something interesting so I could continue till the end. The result of this leap of excitement was a good one and so here I am sharing my view.

"Lovestruck In The City" like I said in the title is about a city in love, a romantic Korean series released in the year 2020-2021 starring Ji Chang Wook from "K2 & Healer" and Kim Ji-won from "Queen Of Tears" main characters. We could actually say the series have six main characters but for the number of scenes given to these two gives them the top.

The storyline goes like... Architect and snowboarder Jae Won goes on a vacation at a beachside and meets a free spirited woman, Eun oh. He fell in love with her free spirit and they got into a beautiful romance until he has to return to work. They made promises to meet again but it was their last time seeing each other as it turned out that Eun Oh isn't who she acts or says she is.

The series also takes on the first and following romantic moments of the other four supporting characters as they struggle to understand what love really is and how to overcome what love has in store for them. Jae Won, Eun Oh and the other four connects through an interview to share their true thoughts.

Yeah, there are a lot of interview scenes in this series but guess what! It is what makes the series stand out and even more, makes the title fit right in.

If I am being honest, I didn't enjoy the series at first but I blame the reviews I got about it before I started seeing it. They kinda played a role in making me find the interviews boring until I understood what the interview was about as it flashes back to what really happened. I can't help but think there wouldn't have been any better way to act out this storyline as they did in this series.

It would have been the usual beachside romance, meeting after a few years and getting back together after some banter among themselves like it happened in "My Secret Romance". So it makes it refreshing and unique to see this one that had good twists and close to real life characters with the interview scenes that felt like a real life thing.

The supporting characters were good with their roles and while I would have wished that they all had a happy ending, I was satisfied with the realness of the ending they all got.

I must comment on the role of the female lead in this series, having to switch her acts from being free spirited to being withdraw and away from the world was interesting to watch. It actually got me wondering how it would end for her and the male lead, a good plot I'll say.

It isn't going to be a highly recommended series from me as I've confirmed that not many would enjoy to go through it till the end unlike me. But I'll recommend it anyways, I hope you check it out if you're yet to see it. Who knows? It may not be boring to you as it wasn't for me.
