With the arrival of the Taliban regime, the laws in Afghanistan were especially toughened for women, they couldn't leave their home unless they were with their husbands and had to wear a burqa.
What this film tells us is the arrival of a regime of terror, blinded by hatred and old customs, the arrival of the sharia, which is nothing more than an extreme justice and moral system.
Parvana is an 11-year-old girl who lives with her family. Soon her father is put in prison for no reason and the girl is left with her mother, sister, and a small boy. Food begins to be scarce without the possibility of them being able to buy something in the market because they are not accompanied by their husband and hunger begins to attack.

Lo que nos cuenta esta película es la llegada de un régimen de terror, cegado por el odio y viejas costumbres, la llegada de la sharia que no es mas que un sistema de justicia y moral extremo.
Parvana es una chica de 11 años que vive con su familia. Pronto su padre es puesto en prisión sin ningun motivo y la niña se queda con su madre, hermana y un niño pequeño. La comida empieza escasear sin la posibilidad de que ellas puedan comprar algo en el mercado por no estar acompañadas de su esposo y el hambre empieza a atacar.
This brave girl decides to cut her hair and dress like a boy so that she can do the home shopping and feed her family. With fear the first time she manages to buy what they need at home and realizes the great differences between being a man and a woman in an oppressive society.
The entire film is constantly interrupted by a series of stories that Parvana tells her younger brother and which give her the strength to face all kinds of situations. These stories are based on a boy who faces a giant elephant that attacks his village, leaving them without food and without dreams. Perhaps we can intuit that this elephant is the Taliban regime imposing sharia.
Esta chica valiente decide cortarse el cabello y vestirse como un niño para poder hacer las compras de la casa y alimentar a su familia. Con miedo la primera vez consigue comprar lo que necesitan en su casa y se da cuenta de las grandes diferencias entre ser un hombre y una mujer en una sociedad opresora.
Toda la película esta constantemente interrumpida por una serie de cuentos que Parvana le dice a su hermano menor y los cuales le dan la fuerza necesaria para enfrentarse a todo tipo de situaciones. Estos relatos se basan en un niño que se enfrenta a un elefante gigante que ataca a su pueblo, dejándolos sin comida y sin sueños. Quizas podamos intuir que este elefante es el régimen taliban imponiendo la sharia.
The number of adventures that this girl faces can be seen throughout the entire film. She gets all kinds of jobs where she is exploited and mistreated but her strength lies in her family and she decides to keep fighting.
Despite being an animation, I don't believe that it is directed for a child audience but rather an adult-youth audience and it shows us a historical event coupled with the oppression that still exists in many parts of the world and which should be eradicated sooner or later in everything and towards all types of people regardless of race, religion, or gender.
La cantidad de peripecias que esta chica enfrenta se pueden ver a lo largo de todo el film. Consigue todo tipo de trabajos en donde es explotada y maltratada pero su fuerza radica en su familia y decide seguir luchando.
A pesar de ser una animación no creo que este dirigida para un publico infantil sino mas bien adulto-juvenil y nos enseña un suceso histórico aunado a la opresión que aun existe en muchas partes del mundo y el cual debería ser erradicado tarde o temprano en todo tipo de ámbitos y hacia todo tipo de personas sin importar raza, religión o género.
The animation of this tape is classic, simple and beautiful as if we were opening a book with pictures. Parvana's stories give a touch of authenticity to the work, showing us dreams aimed at freedom and the strength necessary to achieve it. Parvana feeds on all these tales to get her encouragement and fight for a better life. This is an animation with a real story as it is based on real historical events, raw and with a powerful message despite its short duration. In my opinion, it would have better the voices to be in their original language but for the rest, I have nothing to criticize.
I am an activist towards human rights, that is why I try to document myself as much as possible regarding everything that affects the integrity of a human being around the world. This not only happens in the Middle East, in many African countries we can observe even worse behaviors that disintegrate people.
La animación de esta cinta es clásica, simple y hermosa como si abriésemos un libro con dibujos. Los cuentos de Parvana le dan un toque de autenticidad a la obra, mostrándonos ensoñaciones dirigidas a la libertad y a la fuerza necesaria para conseguirla. Parvana se alimenta de todos estos cuentos para conseguir aliento y luchar por una vida mejor. Esta es una animacion con una historia realista ya que esta basada en hechos históricos reales, cruda y con un mensaje poderoso a pesar de su corta duración. A mi parecer hubiese sido preferible que las voces fuesen en su idioma original pero de resto no tengo nada que criticarle.
Soy un activista hacia los derechos humanos, por eso trato de documentarme lo mas posible en cuanto a todo lo que afecte a la integridad de un ser humano alrededor del mundo. Esto no solo sucede en medio oriente, en numerosos países de Africa podemos observar conductas aun peores que desintegran a las personas.
I will never judge any ideological position that seeks the true good among people but I will judge all those that seek oppression. For a moment imagine being a woman and living under these conditions, without the right to education, opinion or any choice. The life of these women is only full of numerous rules that are destroying their identity as human beings, becoming only a mere object.
Thanks to films like this we can reflect on everything previously said and there are more and more productions that cry out for the freedom of women in these regions of the world. Equality should not be a prize but an intrinsic right in each individual, freedom, and dignity are a fundamental key to our progress and without respect for these rights we will only achieve a sad, uncivilized world full of rancor.
Nunca juzgare ninguna postura ideologica que busque el verdadero bien entre las personas pero si juzgare todas aquellas que busquen la opresión. Por un momento imagínense ser una mujer y vivir bajo estas condiciones, sin derecho a la educación, a la opinión ni a elección alguna. La vida de estas mujeres solo esta llena de numerosas reglas que van destruyendo su identidad como ser humano pasando a ser solo un mero objeto.
Gracias a películas como esta podemos hacer una reflexión sobre todo lo anteriormente dicho y son cada vez mas las producciones que claman por la libertad de las mujeres en estas regiones del mundo. La igualdad no debería ser un premio sino un derecho intrínseco en cada individuo, la libertad y la dignidad son una clave fundamental para nuestro progreso y sin el respeto de estos derechos solo conseguiremos un mundo triste, poco civilizado y lleno de rencor.
