Black Phone could have been a great movie, but there was too much missing to make the story engaging.

I've been trying on a movie based on Joel Hill's short story for a long time, and the trailer only hinted that it could be an engaging horror film, I was sadly disappointed on many levels.

The first downside of the production is undoubtedly director Scott Derrickson, who failed to give his work the right atmosphere. Scott once created the brilliant Sinister, but what succeeded then he now found it hard to set the right tone and rhythm.

The film is closer to a youth production than a full-fledged horror film that could somehow scare or intrigue the viewer.

The director, having a weak short story, tried his best to create some world and create characters, but it came out miserably, feeling King's duplicated scheme, but also lack of consistency in the creation of the plot.

The script, unfortunately, is absurd in places, while the closer we get to the end, we do not feel any tension accompanying the screening, in fact everything goes so generically simple that the viewer wonders if maybe something will happen at the very end, and yet the distaste remains.

Coming back to the plot holes there are several and they are so prominent that even trying to cover up the plot doesn't change anything, as several scenes are comically written butchering it from the very beginning (after the kidnapping) we know how the film will end.
The only plus and standout actor in this film is Ethan Hawke, who plays the masked kidnapper, and you have to admit it worked out great, he fit in interestingly, balancing between insanity and "mission". The kidnapper in his performance is convincing and you can see that it is better not to mess with him, an interesting fact is that each appearance of the actor in front of the screen is with a different part of the mask, which is supposed to symbolize a psychological split. In my opinion, a great character although ultimately underused.

A small plus is also the kidnapper's sister, who is somewhat of a medium and an actress in general, she plays her creation interestingly, you can even see her playing with it being a talkative girl, but also vulgar when the police try to ask her something.

The biggest downside, of course, is the finale and the mental shortcuts that lead to such solutions, unfortunately it is too chaotic, too icky and before all too silly for the film to somehow defend itself.
The scenery came out fairly ok feel the atmosphere of the 80s, as well as the behavior is believable characters.

You can see the inspiration for the film Labyrinth, but while there was a compelling action and pace, here we get something that is unfortunately nothing.
The film is about a kidnapped boy who is locked in a basement with a mysterious phone, the phone has a broken line, but after a while the boy receives a mysterious phone.

It's a pity about Ethan Hawk in this film, because you can see that he tried his best, and his kidnapper has crazy ideas, but the film is sexless because it doesn't have any major violence.

Czarny telefon to mógł być świetny film, ale zbyt wiele zabrakło by historia byś wciągająca.

Od dawna przymierzałem się do obejrzenia filmu na podstawie opowiadania Joela Hilla, a trailer tylko sugerował, ze może to być wciągający horror, zawiodłem się niestety na wielu płaszczyznach.

Pierwszym minusem produkcji jest niewątpliwie reżyser Scott Derrickson, który nie potrafił nadać swojemu dziełu odpowiedniego klimatu. Scott stworzył kiedyś genialnego Sinister, jednak to co wtedy się udało teraz ciężko mu było nadać odpowiedni ton i rytm.

Bliżej filmowi do produkcji młodzieżowej niż pełnoprawnego horroru, który w jakiś sposób mógłby wystraszyć bądź zaintrygować widza.

Reżyser mając słabe opowiadanie starał się jak mógł by stworzyć jakiś świat i wykreować postacie, jednak wyszło mu mizernie, czuć powielany schemat Kinga, ale i brak konsekwencji w tworzeniu fabuły.

Scenariusz niestety jest miejscami absurdalny, zaś im bliżej końca to nie odczuwamy żadnego napięcia towarzyszącego w czasie seansu, wręcz wszystko idzie tak generycznie prosto, ze widz zastanawia się czy może coś na samym końcu się wydarzy, a jednak pozostaje niesmak.

Wracając do dziur fabularnych to jest ich kilka i są one na tyle widoczne, ze nawet próba tuszowania fabularnego nie zmienia nic, gdyż kilka scen jest komicznie napisane rzeź to już na samym początku (po porwaniu) wiemy jak skończy się ten film.
Jedynym plusem i wyróżniającym się w tym filmie aktorem jest Ethan Hawke, który gra zamaskowanego porywacza i trzeba przyznać wyszła mu rola świetnie, wpasował się ciekawie, balansując między szaleństwem a „misja”. Porywacz w jego wykonaniu jest przekonujący i widać, ze lepiej z nim nie zadzierać, ciekawostka jest fakt, ze każde pojawienie die aktora przed ekranem jest z inna częścią maski co miało by symbolizować rozłam psychologiczny. Moim zdaniem świetna postać choć finalnie zbyt słabo wykorzystana.

Małym plusem jest tez siostra porwanego, która jest w pewnym stopniu medium i ogólnie aktorka, gra swoją kreacje ciekawie, wręcz wida jak się nią bawi będąc wygadana dziewczynka, ale i tez wulgarna, kiedy policja probuje ja o coś zapytać.

Największym minusem jest oczywiście finał i skróty myślowe, które doprowadzają do takich rozwiązań, niestety jest zbyt chaotyczny, zbyt lukrowany i przedwszystkim zbyt głupi by film mógł się jakoś obronić.
Scenografia wyszła w miarę ok czuć klimat lat 80, jak i zachowanie jest wiarygodne bohaterow.

Widać inspiracje filmem Labirynt, jednak o ile tam była wciągająca akcja i tempo tak tutaj dostaliśmy coś co niestety jest niczym
Film opowiada o porwanym chłopaku który zostaje zamknięty w piwnicy z tajemniczym telefonem, telefon ten ma zerwana linie jednak po chwili chłopak otrzymuje tajemniczy telefon.

Szkoda w tym filmie Ethana Hawka bo widać, ze się starał, a jego porywacz ma szalone pomysły, jednak film jest bezpłciowy gdyż nie Ma w nim żadnej większejprzemocy.
