Since the beginning of the Wano arc, One Piece anime started with what many consider, myself included, with its best period in terms of animation (and in terms of story as well). The level of improvement that One Piece had at the beginning of that arc compared to the previous ones is crazy, not only they started to incorporate new talents in terms of animation, but also in the field of direction, although old directors of some of the best episodes of the anime also returned. With all these changes, the popularity of One Piece, which always in Japan was quite high, increased a lot and from this other side of the world, the American continent, which this anime had not been as popular as other anime like Dragon Ball or Naruto, has changed completely and currently One Piece is the most popular anime, even its Live Action was very successful, although I personally do not like it too much, but I do not dislike it either. In the Wano arc we can find several of the best episodes of all One Piece, made and directed by the most capable who work for Toei Animation, also the next arc, which is Egghead, also has several episodes with a spectacularly beautiful art and animation quality.
However behind all this there is a news that is not to everyone's liking, since the One Piece anime will take a break of half a year, this is news that took everyone by surprise because although we expected a break in the weekly broadcast of the anime, no one expected it to be so long. Although before all bad news always comes good news and despite such a big break, we can ensure and One Piece staff assured that when it returns it will do so in the best way and we all know that One Piece is a weekly anime and still brought with it many episodes with exceptional quality, making these episodes takes time, so, continuing with the above, we can ensure that when the anime returns, it will have an improvement in all aspects never seen before, not only will change the sound effects, animation, art and even have a new transmission schedule so it may have less censorship, but to improve the pace of the episode, which has always been a very negative aspect of One Piece. Also, they have confirmed with a "remaster" of the Sabaody arc, which I would have liked it to be another arc, but maybe this is a test to improve future arcs.
And the main topic of this post is the special episode they released last week called: One Piece Fan Letter, which is the best anime episode of this 2024 and without a doubt is in the top 10 of the best episodes of One Piece anime and is that, although in this episode the Straw Hats are not the protagonists, they are part of the story by being observed by "normal people" of the One Piece universe, which this time would be the protagonists and we can see from a different perspective than usual, how they have influenced the lives of these nameless protagonists. The main protagonist of this story is a girl whose purpose is to deliver a letter to Nami, since this girl is her fan, so from the beginning of this episode, her main mission will be to meet with Nami to deliver it before the Straw Hat Crew leaves the island, but as you can guess this will not be a very easy mission, since several events will occur that will hinder her goal. On the other hand we have a random Marine, which despite being the older brother, his younger brother always surpasses him in achievements, even having a higher rank in the Navy, this random Marine has as "idol" Luffy himself, because during the war where they tried to save Ace, he could witness the strength of will that Luffy had when he wanted to rescue his brother Ace, so when he saw that, the Marine completely changed his vision of how he saw his brother, since he himself said at the beginning that he did not like his brother.
Within this episode besides being able to see the above mentioned, from the perspective of this Marine you can see the fear that these "normal" characters have in a world full of other characters with incredible and even terrifying powers, the level and the difference between them is huge and it is shown quite well in this episode. We are also shown the stories of other "fans", such as a fan of Zoro, who believes that Zoro will one day be the best swordsman as he has more ability and potential than others. There will also be the story of a woman who owns a bookstore and wants to go to Brook's concert. All these stories although they have in common that several of these unnamed protagonists admire in some way or another a member of the Straw Hat Crew, maintain some distance in the story, but at some point however small they are intertwined in a quite emotional and beautiful ending, in this, which at artistic and animation level, is the best episode of the year as far as anime is concerned and one of the best episodes of all One Piece.
Desde el inicio del arco de Wano el anime de One Piece empezó con lo que muchos consideran, yo incluido, con su mejor época en lo que respecta a animación (y en lo que respecta a la historia también). El nivel de mejora que tuvo One Piece en el inicio de dicho arco en comparación a los anteriores es una locura, no solo empezaron a incorporar nuevos talentos en lo que respecta a animación, sino que también en el ámbito de la dirección, aunque también volvieron viejos directores de algunos de los mejores episodios del anime. Con todos estos cambios, la popularidad de One Piece, la cual siempre en Japon fue bastante alta, aumentó muchísimo y desde este otro lado del mundo, el continente Americano, el cual este anime no había sido tan popular como otros animes como Dragon Ball o Naruto, ha cambiado totalmente y actualmente One Piece es el anime más popular, incluso su Live Action fue muy exitoso, aunque yo en lo personal no me gusta demasiado, pero tampoco me desagrada. En el arco de Wano podremos encontrar a varios de los mejores episodios de todo One Piece, hechos y dirigidos por los más capaces que trabajan para Toei Animation, además el posterior arco, el cual es Egghead, también cuenta con varios episodios con una calidad de arte y animación espectacularmente hermosa.
Sin embargo detrás de todo esto hay una noticia que no es del grato de todos, ya que el anime de One Piece se tomará un descanso de medio año, esta es una noticia que tomó a todos por sorpresa ya que aunque esperábamos un parón en la emisión semanal del anime, nadie se esperaba que fuese tanto tiempo. Aunque ante toda mala noticia siempre llegan noticias buenas y es que a pesar de ese parón tan grande, podremos asegurar y el staff de One Piece aseguro que cuando vuelva lo harán de la mejor manera y es que, todos sabemos que One Piece es un anime semanal y aun así trajo consigo muchísimos episodios con una calidad excepcional, hacer estos episodios lleva tiempo, por lo que, continuando con lo anterior, podemos asegurar que cuando vuelva el anime, tendrá consigo una mejora en todos sus aspectos nunca antes vistas, no solo cambiaran los efectos de sonido, animacion, arte e incluso tendrá un nuevo horario de transmisión por lo que puede que tenga menos censura, sino que mejoraran el ritmo del episodio, el cual este siempre ha sido un aspecto bastante negativo de One Piece. Además, han confirmado con “remaster” del arco de Sabaody, el cual me hubiese gustado que fuese otro arco, pero quizás esto sea una prueba para mejorar próximos arcos.
Y el tema principal de este post es el episodio especial que lanzaron la semana pasada llamado: One Piece Fan Letter, el cual es el mejor episodio de anime de este 2024 y sin duda está en el top 10 de los mejores episodios del anime de One Piece y es que, aunque en este episodio los Sombrero de Paja no son los protagonistas, son parte de la historia al ser observados por “personas normales” del universo de One Piece, los cuales esta vez serían los protagonistas y podemos ver desde una perspectiva diferente a lo habitual, como han influenciado en la vida de estos protagonistas sin nombre. La protagonista principal de esta historia es una niña que, tiene como propósito entregarle a Nami una carta, ya que esta niña es su fan, por lo que desde el inicio de este episodio, su misión principal será reunirse con Nami para poder entregársela antes de que la Tripulacion de los Sombrero de Paja abandonen la isla, pero como podrán suponer esto no será una misión muy fácil, ya que van a ocurrir varios acontecimientos que le obstaculizaran su objetivo. Por otra parte tenemos a un Marine random, el cual a pesar de ser el hermano mayor, su hermano menor siempre lo supera en logros, incluso teniendo un rango superior en la Marina, este Marine random tiene como “ídolo” al mismísimo Luffy, ya que durante la guerra donde intentaron salvar a Ace, él pudo presenciar la fuerza de voluntad que tuvo Luffy al momento de querer rescatar a su hermano Ace, por lo que al ver eso, el Marine cambió por completo su visión de cómo veía a su hermano, ya que el mismo decía al inicio que no le gustaba su hermano.
Dentro de este episodio además de poder ver lo anteriormente mencionado, desde la perspectiva de este Marine se puede ver el miedo que tienen estos personajes “normales” en un mundo lleno de otros personajes con poderes increíbles e incluso aterradores, el nivel y la diferencia que hay entre ellos es enorme y se muestra bastante bien en este episodio. También nos muestran las historias de otros “fans”, como un fan de Zoro, el cual cree que Zoro será algún día el mejor espadachín al tener más capacidad y potencial que otros. También estará la historia de una mujer que tiene una librería y quiere ir al concierto de Brook. Todas estas historias aunque tienen en común que varios de estos protagonistas sin nombre admiran de alguna forma u otra a alguna miembro de la Tripulación de los Sombrero de Paja, mantienen cierta distancia en la historia, pero en alguna momento por más pequeño que sea se entrelazan en un final bastante emotivo y hermoso, en este, el cual a nivel artístico y de animación, es el mejor episodio del año en lo que respecta a animes y uno de los mejores episodios de todo One Piece.
