The Killer's Game 2024 Movie Review

Today i decided to watch a movie that i will enjoy and that does not involve any heavy thinking or leaves a mystery behind. You know there are times that you just want to relax, eat and enjoy a movie or show without a lot of overthinking, just to clear your mind and "kill" some time after work.

I don't know how, i think through Youtube i discovered that around a month ago, The killer's game was released, i watched the trailer which by the way was like i am watching the whole movie and then decided to give it a go. Some things that i believe should be pointed out are that the star of the show is Dave Bautista and the studio behind is the same as of John Wick so there are lot of similarities in terms of everything.

Plot

So the plot is pretty much straightforward. We got Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) the best or one of the best assassins in Europe. So he falls in love with a girl hiding his identity but due to some headaches and such he visits his doctor and does some tests. Turns out he has a rare disease that will lead him to turn blind and get worse.

Thus, he decides to die in let's say his prime and order a hit on his head paying 2 million dollars. Some of the hitmen are informed but a couple of minutes before the contract takes effect the doctor calls Joe and informs him that there has been a mistake and that he is completely fine. So now Joe has to fend off the hitmen and enjoy the rest of his life with his girlfriend.

What i Liked and what Not

So to begin with the writing is good and the awesome things are the fight scenes as well as the different assassins. Regarding the fight scenes not only are we talking about some great fights and choreographies but he also gets to see some great actors known for their awesomeness in that aspect. I am talking about the legends Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror who also starred in John Wick. Apart from them Drew McIntyre and Terry Crews also play the assassin. Honestly speaking the cast is amazing and that's why the fight scenes are also on that same level.

Also, i really liked the variety in Assassins. Even though we are not talking about a long long movie and i would have loved that, there was a variety of different characters that portrayed the assassins as well as their fighting styles which felt fresh, interesting, and funny at times.

Now the plot is not really something and Bautista even though he has left his legacy in TV and Cinema i think can't really be put in roles that involve heavy fighting as he seemed a bit "slow". Thankfully with legends around him, in most of the scenes, you couldn't even realise that, as they did all the heavy movements.

All in all if you want to have a good time i suggest watching this movie without a doubt. if you are looking for something deeper, with a strong plot, mystery or something that will make you think don't even bother with that movie!
