In recent years, a large number of films and series have been released on various platforms, each with a unique story that seeks to blend mystery, drama, and extreme scenarios in order to stand out and offer something enjoyable for everyone. That's why a series was recently released that surprised me with its intensity. Known as The Last Frontier, it's a series with very few episodes, but with such high quality that you will want to watch episode after episode. It is a production shrouded in a cold atmosphere, literally because it is set in Alaska, with a series of landscapes that seem to swallow up the characters and a tension that continues to grow, because every second that is lost makes things more complicated.

En los últimos años, se han estrenado una gran cantidad de películas y series en las distintas las plataformas que existen y cada una de ellas con una historia única que buscan mezclar misterio, drama y escenarios extremos y de esa manera poder ser distinta y que todas las personas pueden disfrutar de algo muy bueno. Por eso hacen poco se estrenó una serie que me sorprendió mucho por la intensidad que esta cuenta y es conocida como The Last Frontier, siendo una serie con muy pocos episodios, pero con un gran nivel que te hará ver episodio tras episodio, ya que es una producción que envuelta en un aire frío, literalmente por ser en Alaska, con una serie de paisajes que parecen tragarse a los personajes y una tensión que no deja de crecer, puesto cada segundo que se pierda las cosas serán más complicadas.

It had been a while since I had seen a series that really caught my attention, because from the very first episode, we realize how everything will unfold and many questions arise, especially since nothing here is coincidental: silences weigh heavily, secrets hurt, and the snow not only covers the ground, but also truths that many wanted to keep buried, precisely because there are several things at stake. The story follows a small team of agents investigating a plane crash in a remote Alaskan community, which makes it very different and creates a lot of tension. What seemed like a routine case quickly turns into a web of conspiracies, betrayals, and an enemy who is always one step ahead, as well as a cold that will take its toll.

As the series progresses, certain important details emerge, and since everyone has a different way of dealing with a situation like this, the most interesting thing is how the series plays with the idea of isolation. Being far from home, the climate, and knowing that one wrong move can ruin everything, that feeling begins to show, rules change, and morals become more fragile. This is where each of the characters in the series, with their different personalities and internal struggles, are forced to change their ways. As the series progresses, they explore and realize how each truth is revealed at the same pace as the snowflakes falling outside.

Tenía tiempo que no veía una serie que me llamara mucho la atención, ya que desde el primer episodio, nos damos cuenta de como será el desarrollo de todo y salen muchas preguntas y sobre todo de que aquí nada es casual: los silencios pesan, los secretos duelen y la nieve no solo cubre el suelo, sino también verdades que muchos querían mantener enterradas, por el mismo hecho de que esta juego varias cosas. Por ende la historia sigue a un pequeño equipo de agentes que investiga un caso de avión que se estrella en una remota comunidad de Alaska, la cual permite que sea muy distinta y comienza una gran tensión y lo que parecía un caso rutinario se convierte rápidamente en una red de conspiraciones, traiciones y un enemigo que siempre está un paso adelante, además un frío que hará de la suya.

A medida que la serie va avanzando van saliendo ciertos detalles que son importantes y como cada quien tiene una manera distinta de llevar las cosas ante una situación como esa, además lo más interesante es cómo la serie juega con la idea del aislamiento, ya que al estar lejos de casa, el clima y saber que un mal movimiento puede arruinar todo, por ende comienza a mostrarse ese sentimiento, reglas van cambian y la moral se vuelve más frágil. Es aquí donde cada uno de los personajes de la serie, donde hay diferentes personalidades y cada uno carga con su propia tormenta interna, los lleva a tener que cambiar su forma de ser y por eso a medida que avanza les sirve para explorar y datase cuenta de como si cada verdad fuera revelada con el ritmo de los copos cayendo afuera.

The scenes are simple, since being in Alaska, it's practically all snow upon snow, and this is where the direction of the entire production makes a great contribution. They managed to create something good and new, with wide shots that showcase the brutality of the landscape, contrasting light that makes you feel the cold, and a discreet yet key soundtrack that maintains suspense in certain parts. It keeps us thinking and watching until the end to see if everything will turn out alright or if it will all be a failure. That's why every element worked so well, allowing them to craft each episode and, at the same time, use the location as a source of trust, sanity, or even hope.

Las escenas son sencillas, ya que al estar en Alaska prácticamente todo es nieve tras nieve y es aquí donde la dirección de todo esta producción le da un gran aporte, puesto que lograron hacer algo bueno, nuevo y planos amplios que muestran la brutalidad del paisaje, contrastes de luz que te hacen sentir el frío, y una banda sonora discreta, pero clave para mantener el suspenso en ciertas partes, puesto que nos hará pensar y llegar hasta el final para ver si todo saldrá bien o es un fracaso. Por eso cada cosa les funciono para así poder armar cada episodio y la vez poder usar ese lugar como especie de confianza, cordura o incluso la esperanza.

It was a very good first season, and what's incredible is that it maintained that tension and intensity from start to finish, allowing viewers to enjoy watching each question being resolved, but bringing an even greater mystery. That's why it's a series that manages to captivate without the need for exaggerated effects, where beyond the suspense there is a psychological, emotional, and deeply human game. Perfect for those who enjoy stories where the atmosphere is as much a protagonist as the characters, and where every decision weighs as if it were the last.

Fue una primera temporada muy buena y lo increíble es que siempre mantuvo esa tensión e intensidad de inicio a fin, permitiendo disfrutar y ver cómo cada pregunta, se va resolviendo, pero trae un misterio todavía más grande. Por eso es una serie que logra atrapar y sin necesidad de efectos exagerados, donde más allá del suspenso está ese juego psicológico, emocional y profundamente humano. Perfecta para quienes disfrutan historias donde el clima es tan protagonista como los personajes, y donde cada decisión pesa como si fuera la última.
