"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is the first film in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that I felt without a problem was a MCU film, as the Black Widow film felt like a very separate story, and Shang-Chi as well as The Inhumans felt like something new that is trying to carve out a space for itself in the MCU. No Way Home although it gives a first glimpse of what the multiverse is, I felt it a movie more unique to Spider-Man than the MCU. Dr Strange is pure MCU without a doubt, but at the same time with the introduction of the Sam Raimi style, it feels like something new and this for me, is one of the factors that made me enjoy this proposal that mixes the superhero genre we know with the director's characteristic horror films.
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” es la primera película de la fase 4 del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel que sentí sin problema que era una película de este Universo, ya que la película de Black Widow la sentí una historia muy aparte, y Shang-Chi al igual que Los Inhumanos las sentí como algo nuevo que está tratando de hacerse un espacio en el MCU. No Way Home aunque da un primer vistazo a lo que es el multiverso, la sentí una película más exclusiva de Spiderman que del UCM. Dr Strange es MCU puro y sin dudas, pero al mismo tiempo con la introducción del estilo Sam Raimi, se siente como algo nuevo y esto para mí, es uno de los factores que me hiso disfrutar esta propuesta que mescla el género de super héroes que conocemos con el cine de terror característico del director.

The story is quite linear, after introducing the new character of America Chavez during the first act, there is a twist that clearly presents the conflict that will be the basis of the film, once this conflict is established the film becomes a frantic race to the climax and resolution, I found the pace excellent, a bombardment of information and very well structured sequences, which keep you attentive to what is to come. Although the story can be predictable it is full of surprises that I didn't see coming and that is something I value very much.
La historia
La historia es bastante lineal, luego de presentar al nuevo personaje de América Chavez durante el primer acto, hay un giro que presenta claramente el conflicto que será la base de la película, una vez establecido este conflicto la película se convierte en una carrera desenfrenada hasta el clímax y la resolución, el ritmo me pareció excelente, un bombardeo de información y secuencias muy bien estructuradas, que te mantienen atento a lo que está por venir. Aunque la historia puede ser previsible la misma está de llena de sorpresas que no vi venir y eso es algo que yo valoro mucho.
The actors and characters:
Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange), Benedict's performances are up to the commitment, as expected, the speed of the film makes it a bit difficult to see Stephen's internal development and his questioning of whether he is happy, looking across the multiverse at what he may be capable of and the weight of his decisions, a very mature and coherent accelerated introspective journey that forces him to prove what kind of Dr. Strange he is in this universe.
Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff is a marvel and yes she blew me away, she plays and characterizes two characters very convincingly, Wanda Maximoff and The Scarlet Witch. Elizabeth Olse was a hidden gem during Marvel's Phase 3 waiting for her moment to shine as an actress, and once that moment came she makes the best use of her opportunity to show how excellent she is.
Benedict Wong as Wong, in this opportunity we can appreciate more minutes of Wong than usual, this is another positive point of the film, the chemistry between the Sorcerer Supreme Wong and Strange is great and very funny, I would like to see more development of this character in the future.
Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez is the new addition to the MCU, I didn't know the actress but I can say that although the movie gives Xochitl few opportunities to stand out acting, she manages to convey what is needed and I'm sure she will be an important piece in the future of the MCU.
Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, I am an eternal lover of Rachel's eyes and smile, I was very pleased that this time Christine had more development and relevance, contributing to the story.
Los actores y los personajes:
Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen Strange), las interpretaciones de Benedict están a la altura del compromiso, como es de esperar, la velocidad de la película hace un poco difícil el desarrollo interno de Stephen y su cuestionamiento sobre si es feliz, observando a través del multiverso lo que puede ser capaz de hacer y el peso de sus decisiones, un acelerado viaje introspectivo muy maduro y coherente que lo obliga a demostrar la clase de Dr. Strange que es en este universo.
Elizabeth Olsen como Wanda Maximoff es una maravilla y sí que me ha sorprendido, interpreta y caracteriza a dos personajes de forma muy convincente, Wanda Maximoff y La Bruja Escarlata. Elizabeth Olse fue una joya oculta durante la fase 3 de Marvel a la espera de su momento para brillar como actriz, y una vez llegado ese momento aprovecha de la mejor manera su oportunidad para demostrar lo excelente que es.
Benedict Wong como Wong, en esta oportunidad se puede apreciar más minutos de Wong de lo que se acostumbra, este es otro punto positivo de la película, la química entre el hechicero Supremo Wong y Strange es estupenda y muy divertida, me gustaría ver más desarrollado este personaje en el futuro.
Xochitl Gomez como America Chavez es la nueva adición al MCU, no conocía a la actriz pero puedo decir que aunque la película le da a Xochitl pocas oportunidades para destacar actuando, logra transmitir lo necesario y estoy seguro será pieza importante en el futuro del MCU.
Rachel McAdams como Dr. Christine Palmer, soy un eterno enamorado de los ojos y sonrisa de Rachel, me agradó mucho que en esta ocasión Christine tuviese más desarrollo y relevancia, aportando a la historia
The staging
Sam Raimi's return to superhero cinema since his Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy. A return that gives him the opportunity to make a fusion of the Raimi of the Spiderman saga with the Raimi of the Evil Dead saga, and this he does within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, often bringing that style of the 2000s superhero cinema loaded with terror referential to his career and cinema in general. For me he did it wonderfully, Raimi has the ability to demonize villains in a terrifying way, he already did it with Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and now he takes it to another level with The Scarlet Witch, sometimes I felt like I was watching a Slasher, I really enjoyed this movie. Sam Raimi manages to give his personal stamp, something similar to what James Gunn achieved with Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad or Taika Waititi with Thor: Ragnarok.
Raimi brings so many elements that until now were totally alien to Marvel cinema, achieving an innovative experience within this Universe, with his camera movements, zooms to impossible shots that enter through the eye to the mind of a character, Dutch shot that denotes bewilderment or instability of a character, demonic creatures, chases and battles in extraordinary locations.
The script is by Michael Waldron, creator of the Loki series, which makes me think he is a connoisseur of the multiversal theme.
The music is timely and referential to the moment that is happening (pay attention to the music in one of the most important cameos), there is a battle where music plays an important role, the song that plays at that moment is a genius.
La puesta en escena
El regreso de Sam Raimi al cine de super héroes desde su trilogía del Spiderman de Tobey Maguire. Regreso que le da la oportunidad de hacer una es fusión del Raimi de la saga de Spiderman con el Raimi de la saga Evil Dead, y esto lo hace dentro del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel, aportando con frecuencia ese estilo del cine de super héroes de los 2000s cargado de terror referencial a su carrera y al cine en general. Para mí lo hizo de maravilla, es que Raimi tiene una capacidad de demonizar villanos de forma aterradora, ya lo hizo con el duende Verde de Willem Dafoe y ahora lo lleva a otro nivel con La Bruja Escarlata, en ocasiones sentía que estaba viendo un Slasher, valla que sí disfrute esta película. Sam Raimi logra dar su sello personal, algo parecido a lo logrado por James Gunn con Guardianes de la Galaxia y en el Escuadrón Suicida o Taika Waititi con Thor: Ragnarok.
Raimi aporta tantos elementos que hasta el momento eran totalmente ajenos al cine de Marvel, logrando una experiencia innovadora dentro de este Universo, con sus movimientos de cámara, zooms a planos imposible que entran por el ojo hasta la mente de un personaje, plano holandés que denota desconcierto o inestabilidad de un personaje, criaturas demoniacas, persecuciones y batallas en locaciones extraordinarias.
El guion es de Michael Waldron, creador de la serie de Loki, lo que me hace pensar que es un conocedor del tema multiversal.
La música es oportuna y referencial al momento que está sucediendo (atentos con la música en uno de los cameos más importantes), hay una batalla donde la música juega un papel importante, la canción que suena en ese momento es una genialidad.

The internet is abuzz with speculation and leaks regarding cameos, expecting a more epic event movie than Infinity War and End Game combined. I wasn't expecting that, yes there are a few cameos that will appeal to connoisseurs, but only that and that's fine, as the story stands on its own without the need for more. One of the most attractive aspects for me was the fact that for the first time in a Marvel movie I could see references to horror movies, which I really enjoyed and gives a positive to Sam Raimi's work.

En internet hay una lluvia de especulaciones y filtraciones con respecto a los cameos, esperando una película evento más épica que Infinity War y End Game juntas. Yo no esperaba eso, si hay unos cameos que le van a gustar a los conocedores, pero solo eso y está bien, ya que la historia se sostiene por si misma si la necesidad de más. Uno de los aspectos más atractivo para mí fue el hecho de que por primera vez en una película de Marvel pude ver referencias al cine de terror, lo que disfrute mucho y le da un positivo al trabajo de Sam Raimi.

For me, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends up being a very well made movie, with a well told story, excellent performances, it has moments that manage to generate tension, with memorable and innovative sequences that can surprise the viewer, it is entertaining and visually appealing, a walk through the house of terror located in the park of the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm looking forward to see it again.
Para mí, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness termina siendo una película muy bien hecha, con una historia bien contada, excelentes interpretaciones, tiene momentos que logran generar tensión, con secuencias memorables e innovadoras que pueden sorprender al espectador, es entretenida y atractiva visualmente, un paseo por la casa del terror ubicada en el parque del Multiverso Cinematográfico de Marvel. El disfrute mucho y estoy ansioso por verla otra vez.
