The movie is a American fiction drama movie producer in 2016. At the beginning of the movie, we see Captain William about to launch to Mars. William was very excited to be the first man on Mars and expressed is feeling to a man named Skinner who is also nickname Skinner. In the final moments of Captain William on Earth, He thought about what people think of him taking on this great adventure, and shows confident for the success of the event. After a days several of preparations for the mission, Captain William ultimately sets ahead, out into the breaches of space.
The rest is unacceptable from the major part of the ship, and makes it out past Earth's atmosphere. We were shown where was making radio report to Skinner checking over the ship's functions. He then start to get ready to run some discover under Skinny's instructions. Some time later, after inspecting one of the ship's engines, Captain William prepare food for himself, then begin checking the ship.
He start to jot down his state of mind and his feelings about the adventure. At night, Captain William is not able to sleep so he would listen to some sounds of nature. On his 12th day, he was about to perform some maintenance on the ship he has invented, and but he was Skinny interrupts him to do a PR video segment with some students who are very curious to know the how the journey is so far.
He starts to attend to a lot of questions there, explaining the expenses of the mission and also he explaining the job of his water converter he inverted. The movie flashback to a time where he first used his water converter, in the desert when he went on a mission but after several days the water machine was perfected.
After the PR video, he again documents in incident in his dairy as usual, considering Mars as a fresh beginning for humanity. Sometime later, Captain William gets another call from Skinner, and Skinner enquire about the weather on Mars, he shared his opinion about the weather in Mar and also talked about its potential dangers, but he just liken the mission to a calculated risk.
Skinny calls William and lets him know of an upcoming supply depot, but also lets them know that he won't have long to load his supplies. Captain William then meets a man called Greenstreet, Greenstreet gave him one of William plants from the Zephyr and he also tells Captain William that his garden died prior into the Mar mission. Skinny apologizes for Mr Greenstreet being stuck in space for so long and tells him it wasn't their intention.
William is introduced to a man called Worsley on the other ship and he then goes to check parts of the supply ship, noticing the breakdown of many the ship's positions and areas. Time went passed by, and William observes Greenstreet as he plays a keyboard for his daughter back home. Williams was very surprised to hear Greenstreet telling him to cancel his mission and also said he does not understand why William does not want to go back to Earth after the mission.
But William said he has seen enough of Earth, and he will love to see Mars also. Thereafter a woman called Emily was launched to Mars and both are again interrupted by Skinny, telling him of a woman named Emily Maddox, and her launch to Mars. Both William and Worsley, Greenstreet watch the launch.
William proceed on his mission to Mars and we then see him giving another video interview, talking on some occurrence from his life. He also talked about the loneliness and having someone to talk, and how it might have affected the life around him. During the 41st day, he is seen checking the water converter, and observe that there is something wrong with it.
During the 57th day, the water converter start to have issue. Captain William then gets out his Worsley, and start to make the necessary repairs on the machine and he eventually fixes the machine.
On his 81st day, he again notice that his converter is have problem and He then goes to run some proper check on the machine to find out what is wrong with it but ends up destroying a fuse, and therefore polluting his drinking water. Later that night, William made an attempt to to take a loom outside the ship but is could not see anything.
Later that evening, he is talking to Skinny, who advised him to use medicine to sleep. Skinny then tell William that Emily has aborted the mission. Skinny then advice him to stay concentrated and in right mind, much to the ire of William. William again can't sleep, so he goes to take a check outside the window and he then looks at the his water supply, which is running very low.
Time went by, and William observes his experimental plant dying and He find out that his AC has stopped working as well. William still continues to try to repair his broken water converter, he eventually fix it but it's unable to come up with clean water.
On the 161st day, William continues to struggle with the repairs, He receives a call from Skinny, who makes note of William's poor health condition, and the mess around the ship. William finally admits that the converter is broken, much to Skinny's disbelief. Skinny says the protocol mandates William return home, but asks if there's anything that can be done to avoid that.
He proceed to try and repair on the ship, as it start to gradually breakdown. William also proceed to work on his water converter, even he had no success in it. As time goes on, and we see William's supply gradually start to fade away, and also his hope and health.
Then particularly day, he start to hear Skinny's voice over one of the monitors that had not been working for long time. Skinny then tells him of an incoming strange magnetic storm, Skinny was trying to find out if William still alive but could not William. William start to feel as if he is getting closer to his original destination.
He gazed in surprise at the things surrounding him. William finally reaches Mar and he dress up to take a look at Mar. He then radios into mission control, let them know that he is getting prepare to land on planet Mars. He finally reach solid land of Mars, Captain William radio's into mission control that he has finally reach Mars. Captain William comes out of his ship and finally takes his first steps on solid land different from Earth.
William walks along the surface of Mars, taking in the scenery that surrounds him. William didn't say anything for a while, he was just walking forward. William gazes in all at the void land around him as he proceed to walk and discover nothing but silence all around him as he rests, having ultimately finished his mission.

Never heard of this film but I do enjoy Sci Fi. Did you think the movie is worth watching? It's difficult to tell from your write-up.
