It was my first year of college, in 2017, in the cinema and audiovisual course. In the theme of introduction to audiovisual narrative, the teacher requested an academic work to recreate the scene of a film in order to make us experience the production from the perspective of a director.
This was my first job directing, and out of boldness I chose a scene from the movie Fight Club. Big mistake. The scene, which seemed simple, at the moment the big plot is revealed, in 3 minutes there were more than 70 cuts that we needed to recreate. But I always liked challenges.
While a classmate made a spreadsheet with all the planning, I also played the role of producer and art director, looking for the most faithful locations and costumes possible. I even did a sketch of Tyler's outfit.
I was lucky to find the perfect main location, very similar to the original, which luckily was at a classmate's house.
On the first day of filming, which was at the main location, we needed 12 hours to be able to do all the necessary takes. In other locations it was a little faster.
It is one of the jobs that I feel very proud of today, I feel that I was able to get a little into David Fincher's mind, despite having been very laborious.
Hope you like it!
