The Six Triple Eight

Imagine not hearing from your military dad or son fighting in world war II because there’s nobody to deliver their mails. And two-three years later they find 17 million pieces of mails stored and need to be delivered in 180 days. How possible? I’m not even sure a magician can do that not to talk of only 855 women. When I did the maths, it meant each woman had to deliver 19,888 mails in those 180 days. Still not possible right? But these women of colour did it in less than 90 days.

The Six Tripple Eight, based on true story is a 2024 war/drama movie about women of colour in the US army being sent on an impossible mission during world war II. In the beginning I thought it was going to be about someone’s love life. You know how a soldier leaves his girlfriend at home and then dies on the battle field? I was thinking it was going to be that but boy, it was more than that and I did a lot of crying at some point.

Let me talk about the cinematography. It was so good. The angles, the lighting and everything was perfect for me. I love how they made sure not to leave any details out and it almost looked like the real thing that happened during the World War II. In fact, after the movie, there were footages of the real thing and if you compare, you barely notice any difference apart from camera quality.

Oh and the acting! I loved each of the characters so much. I was so into the movie to the extent that I caught my emotions being controlled by the characters at all times. The acting was so good and they left no stone unturned. There was a part that made me clap for them because I never expected that in any way.

This brings me to the plot twist. Even though it was based on a true story and no twists were to be expected, they still found ways to make me open my mouth. There were some scenes that got me crying and laughing and shocked and almost at the edge of my seat. What made me very sad was the reason behind the deliveries. I found it so touching and I just couldn’t help my tears.

I know you’re probably wondering why there’s so much crying and emotions in this particular review. Well, I attended a military school and each time my friends’ fathers went for peacekeeping, my friends would shut out till their parents returned. Most of the soldiers never really talked about what happened so these kind of movies give me a fair idea and knowing my friends’ dads went through similar things make me really sad.

On a brighter side, this movie taught me that the only way to prove people wrong is to show them results. They might see you working so hard but if your hard work is not yielding anything at the end of the day, then you might as well just quit and rest. I rate this 9.5/10 and will definitely watch it again.
